Basic Photography and Indoor Lighting Workshop

Many thanks to Deepak and Manoharan who made this workshop happen, deepak for the location and manoharan for his time and patience. Next comes the members who were eager to participate and learn, there was even mahendran who cut shot his trip to yercard and reached the venue on time for the workshop…..

Yes the workshop did start on time with breakfast (now standard pongal-idli-vada-coffee) and ended at 6 after lunch and a couple of tea breaks, but more importantly the what happened in-between made a difference.

Pre-lunch session was theoritical

  • Types of cameras
  • Types of films
  • Apperture
  • Shutterspeed
  • ISO settings
  • Composition
  • Depth of field
  • and many other discussions along these lines….

Post-Lunch session

  • Studio equipments – an introduction
  • Practical explanation of the types of lighting in studio
  • Practical shoot in the office converted studio (yes we had to stick black chart paper on all windows)
  • Male model shoots with props
  • members taking their own and other’s photos
  • Am sure most of the members were happy about the workshop

A special thanks to our first active lady member Archana who saved the day for the organisers after the ill-fated sms from the female model who was to come-by. I cannot figure how bad the buttefly lighting would have been with anyone else in the modeling seat…..

We look forward to more such sessions at a higher level with all of you
