Sony is one of the largest names in consumer electronics manufacturing. The company offers an extensive array of compact digital cameras and digital SLRs. Sony also offers a unique hybrid that combines the professional photo-taking capabilities of the digital SLR with the compact size and portability of a standard digital camera.sony camera

The compact line of digital cameras by Sony is known as the Cyber-shot series. Features found in the higher-end models in this series include 12.2 megapixel resolution, 3.5-inch LCD preview screens and 1080i HD movie recording capabilities. The more entry-level models in the Cyber-shot series offer things like 3-inch preview screens, 720i HD recording capabilities and intelligent audio features. Most of the models are available in a variety of colors as well. Prices in the Cyber-shot line begin around $250 and go up to about $400.

Sony’s line of digital SLRs is impressive. Prices range from $500 to about $2700. On the pricier end of the spectrum, users can expect 24.6 megapixel resolution, advanced image sensors and high-performance auto-focus capabilities. The lower-end models in this series include such features as 14.2 megapixel resolution, internal image stabilization and high-sensitivity noise reduction capabilities, which is ideal for HD video shooting. All models in Sony’s line of digital SLRs feature sturdy construction and anti-dust technology to help keep cameras performing their best.

Sony also offers a new series of cameras that combines the high-quality picture taking features of a digital SLR with the light-weight and compact design of regular digital cameras. Like digital SLRs, this hybrid series features high megapixel resolutions, the ability to shoot high-quality high-definition videos, advanced image sensors, and the ability to change out lenses. However, models in this series are about half the size of traditional digital SLRs, making them more compact and mobile like standard digital cameras. Prices for the models in this line range from about $550 to $700.
