Filters Accessories

Filter accessories are something that you should also consider when buying your camera products. Their are many different filter accessories to consider, but the two that I consider the most important is protection and clean. Some of the filters that you will buy need cleaning as dirt can accumulate pretty quickly on them. People sometimes don't realize how particles in the air attach to filters very quickly and if not properly clean can really adverse effect your picture taking. The second filter accessories that I consider extremely important is protection of your filters. Now protection of filter accessories can mean alot of different things. One of the things that I advised you getting is a pouch or camera bag for your filters. House your filters only in this bag and nothing else. In today's market you can buy this small little pouches that will hold your filters which you can stick into another camera bag if you want. It's all in what makes you feel comfortable. Heat ...

Polarizing Filters

Polarizing filters are used in both black and white and color photography to darken over lighter pictures. This reason is to give you a much better picture. Polarizing filters are many times used in reflections such as pictures taken through windows. Their are two types of polarizing filters linear and circular. Linear can only be used on certain cameras where the circular can be used on all types of cameras. Polarizing is basically just a filter that can change your picture for the better just as most filters do. Most of the time polarizing filters are used to eliminated reflected sunlight that would cause your picture to not look as good as it could. In recent years with the digital camera arriving more and more people have less trouble with reflected sunlight but others do. This is where the polarizing filters are used. The problem with polarizing filters is not everyone knows how to use them to the best of their abilities and this can cause more problems than solutions. Becau...

Best DSLR Camera Bag for Traveling and Hiking

I really like my DSLR and would never go back to a compact camera. DSLR cameras have so many advantages. First of all, you can see what you're taking through a real viewfinder. Being able to change lenses, to hold the camera steady and to feel it in your hands makes using a DSLR a pure joy. I've tried so many bags until I found one that I really like: Tamrac 5788 Evolution. This is my go to bag for travel and hiking. Although not very stylish, this bag is so nicely made. The quality is great and the zippers slide easily (big deal for me). It has two different compartments: one for the camera and lenses and one for other items, such as snacks or even a light jacket. The best thing about this camera bag: it provides three-way access to the gear and it can also be used as a backpack or as a sling bag. Need to change the lens quickly? No problem, just slide the bag and grab the lens. No need to put the bag on the ground. I love this feature. Here are a few pros and cons...

Tilt & Shift Lenses are something that more and more people are using. These lenses let you tilt the camera to get different pictures at different angles and in different depths. Many people don't understand Tilt & Shift Lenses and that is why not many normal people actually know how to use them. What is the future of Tilt & Shift Lenses? That is a very good question and the answer I guess depends on alot of different things. Many photographers use them while others never could tell you what they are. more companies are making them though. Pentax shift lens are one of the better ones and as more people learn about them their use will definitely increase. These lenses can correct for the perspective that you are taking the picture of. This is important for a number of reasons. Sometimes you can get to a certain spot and using Tilt & Shift Lenses is one way you can capture that picture that you may not be able anyway else. As more people realize that Tilt & Shift...

Neutral Density Filters

Neutral density filters reduce light of all wavelengths or colors equally. The real purpose of neutral density filters are to allow a photographer to be able to have great control over the aperture or exposure time. Neutral density filters let you for example slow down your lens which will let you slow down what you capture on fill. Take a waterfall example it flows at a great rate. By using the neutral density filter you can slow down in the picture that you take how fast it moves. Neutral density filters are d\used for many options just like this.  Slowing down athletes running and jumping is just another use of the neutral density filters. These filters cam make a variety of different pictures better, but their are a few drawbacks that you will need to consider. The neutral density filter does slow down what you take, but it can also effect the color in your picture at times. Many people fail to realize this and when the picture isn't to their liking they blame the camera ...

Due to some of the chemical components found in digital cameras, they must be disposed of properly and not just thrown in with everyday trash. Chemicals such as lead, beryllium, arsenic, mercury (and more) can be found in circuits, circuit boards and batteries. dispose digital camera When improperly disposed of, digital cameras can threaten the environment as these toxic materials can potentially breakdown and be released into landfills. Depending on where you live and where you purchase your digital camera, there are several options for disposal once it is no longer of use to you. Some Internet sites buy used electronics and allow the seller to make a profit. Users can enter their camera model, choose its quality level, select applicable features and accessories, and submit to the site for an approximate value of the used camera. If the camera is still of value, you can choose to accept the money from the company or you may choose to donate it to a variety of charities. If t...

Zoom Lenses

Zoom lenses are probably one of best innovations that have come along in a very long time. Zoom lenses have taken picture taking to another whole level. So what exactly is a zoom lens and how does it help me. These are simple questions and some real simple answers. The zoom lens is exactly what it states. It zooms in on whatever kind of picture you want from a distant and gets you a closeup shot. Zoom lenses have really become popular recently as digital camera and camcorders have some of the best zoom lenses around. Once you try a zoom lens you will never want to go back to anything else. I can't blame you on that one either. Zoom lenses make taking pictures a breeze and you can look like a professional even if your not. Some of ways that a zoom lens will help you is taking a picture of your son or daughter if your in the stands and can't get real close to the action. The zoom lens will zoom and let you get a picture as if you were standing right beside him or her. Now i...

Gel Filters

Gel filters are filters that usually snap on lenses and come in various colors to let light shine through them and produce the color in your picture. As an example if you know your picture is missing a certain color or has less of that in your picture than gel filters are used. These are usually use the most by professional photographers and studios who know how to use them to get the most out of them. The amateur photographer should probably stay away from these until they become more familiar with their use and how to use them properly or the result could be something that they don't like. Many different companies make gel filters and holders for them. Gel filters is something the average photographer probably will never get into, but they are good for people who understand their use. Pictures can sometimes lose their contrast or color in certain areas of the picture. One example is if your taking pictures in a area with a little shade. These gel filters can be added to bright...

Digital Cameras Have “Eyes”

Digital cameras perceive color much differently than the human eye. The eye compensates for most types of light making the scene in front of it look normal. But the truth is, every different light source emits a different type of color. Our eyes just compensate for that making everything look normal. Your digital camera attempts to do the same thing with something called white balance. When you set your digital camera on auto white balance, the software inside the camera analyzes the lighting and sets the white balance accordingly. While there is no research to back this up, my guess is that 98% of casual photographers just leave their camera set on auto white balance. In this article we’ll take a look at how you can get better and more creative using your camera’s white balance settings. Scientific discussions about the color of light use the term “temperature.” Different light sources tend to have their own color temperature, and this temperature is described in the scientifi...

Photography Gift Ideas For Your Home And Office

The interior design of your home and office will affect how you enjoy your life and how you produce your work. A home without any decorations could make you feel bored or restless while a bare office could leave you with little to no inspiration at all for doing any task. As such, you will want these interior spaces to have life and provide motivation. Instead of hanging the usual portraits on the walls of your living room or bedroom and displaying expensive paintings on the walls of your office, you can add a unique visual interest by choosing wall art from an expert photographer. Wall art can come in different forms. It can be painted on directly to the surface. It can be stenciled. It can be a poster or a decal. It can be framed. The last form might be more favourable since you can take the art with you when you move, and not damage the walls after. A photographer can specialise in a variety of subjects and themes for wall art. But if you want something stunning, something t...

Infrared Filters

Infrared filters is a filter that removes visible light and only pass infrared light in different wavelengths. The basic premise of infrared filters is the block regular light rays out and let infrared rays through to give you some great pictures. Sony actually had these on their cameras a few years ago, but quickly took them off when people were using them for things that were deemed inapproriate. Infrared filters can actually take your picture taking to an all new level. Just like anything else though infrared filters have they detractors too.  Many will tell you they are a waste of money, but that hasn't stop them from making infrared filters. many aftermarkets exist and are continually being made for cameras. Some companies have decided not to go that way, but many otherwise have and these infrared filters continue to be one of the more popular filters on the market today and probably will be for sometime. Infrared filters are usually used by professionals, but in recent yea...

Ultraviolet Filters

Ultraviolet filters which are sometimes called UV filters provide basic reduction of UV light found especially in high altitudes when the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner. UV light can cause many things including blue color and loss of detail especially in pictures taken from long distances. This is where your ultraviolet filters come in. They will give your pictures greater details and color than otherwise maybe possible if you didn't use them. Other times photographers will leave them on to protect the camera from dust and dirt. Ultraviolet filters are great to use in many instances, but like any other filter they can only do so much for you. Remember a filter is really only as good as the person using it. I know everyone will attach filters thinking that they will make that picture perfect and it just doesn't work that way. Ultraviolet filters do help you out in certain situations, but it's not perfect and it won't prevent you from taking a bad picture. Now don...

Camera Settings – Camera Modes

It has come to my attention that most camera owners do not venture off of the Auto Mode setting in their camera. I don’t know why this is a surprise to me. People are timid when it comes to trying new things on their cameras. Why is this true? Come on People. Get your fanny off Auto! Here is a brief rundown of the settings that are common to most digital cameras, both point and shoot and digital SLR. Basic Camera Modes –  these are the ones that will set your camera up for success. You set it, the camera does the rest. The reason they are called Basic Modes? When you choose one of these modes, you are giving the digital camera “Carte Blanche” to do what it does best. You don’t have any more control over the settings. You can’t choose the ISO, the White Balance, the Picture Quality (you CAN set the picture size). All you get to do after selecting a Basic Mode is to press the shutter button. Full Automatic Mode: –  This is the one most camera owners use, whether ...
