Photography Studios – Find the Right One

A picture is definitely worth a thousand words, and preserving your memories is easiest if you know how to find the perfect photography studios.  Whether you’re looking for professional photographs of yourself, your family, or your new baby, there are photography studios in your area that can fill the bill. Let’s look at how to choose the best one for you and your budget – and keep in mind that not all studios or photographers are created equally.

What to Look For

While obviously you want to find a studio that will provide you with quality portraits or photographs, there are other considerations to be made.  These guidelines should help:


-    Ask to see the photographer’s portfolio.  All photographers worth their “salt” will have a huge portfolio of work for you to view – and much of it should be displayed gallery style in their studio for prospective clients and customers t view. The photographer’s portfolio should contain some of the setups that you are interested in with your own photographs.

-    Talk pricing upfront.  Don’t beat around the bush when it comes to price. There’s no need to consult with a photographer for a lengthy period of time only to find out that his services are well above your price range.  Keep in mind that there are good discounted photography studios out there for you to choose from – and price is usually not an indicator of quality for the most part.

-    Ask about available backgrounds. Ideally, the photography studios that you are considering for your portrait order should have a good number of backgrounds and props for you to choose from.

-    Judge the photographer by how comfortable you are with him or her.  If you are not comfortable when someone is taking your photo, chances are the photo will not be the best that it can be.  You need to be able to establish rapport with the photographer in order to get the most out of your portrait session. If the photographer seems distant or unfriendly, your pictures may reflect his attitude.

-    Ask about touch-ups. If you’re having a professional portrait taken for your portfolio, for example, you might find it nice if the photographer can touch up your face to remove blemishes or other defects.

-    Ask about special packages.  Many photography studios will give you a great number of photographs and portraits for a bulk price plus a sitting fee, and many of them run monthly specials that will enable you to have extras to distribute to family and friends.
